Mohan Babu was born name is Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu on 19 March 1952, is an Indian film actor, director, and producer, best known for his works primarily at Telugu Cinema. A former student of the Madras Film Institute, Mohan Babu has played in more than five hundred and seventy-five (575) leading feature films, supporting roles and various roles. He has produced eighty (80) feature films under his banner, Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures.

In 1995, he received the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his work in the multi-starrer Pedarayudu, in which Rajinikanth also played a central role. In 2007, he received the CineMAA Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Yamadonga. Mohan Babu received an honorary doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley for his contributions to film and education. He is co-owner of production companies such as Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, 24 Factory Frames and Manchu Entertainment. In 2016, he won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South. In 2017, he received the “Special Recognition Award” for having “forty years of cinema” at the 6th South Indian International Movie Awards.

A former instructor in physical education, Mohan Babu is a renowned teacher. He manages Sri Vidya Niketan educational institutions and is the founder of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust. In 2007, he received the Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of arts and education. He is a former member of parliament – Rajya Sabha of Andhra Pradesh after being elected in 1995. He was also elected to the International Parliament for Security and Peace, an intergovernmental organization based in Italy. Mohan Babu created the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1993. Today, Sree Vidyanikethan heads Sree Vidyanikethan International School, Sree Vidyanikethan College, Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Pharmacy and Sree. Vidyanikethan College of Nursing. Vidyanikethan College of Management and the Sree Vidyanikethan College for Post Graduation Studies.
