Jai Sampath, known as Jai, is an Indian actor working in Tamil films. Deva’s nephew, Jai had worked as a keyboardist in films and made his debut in a supporting role in Bagavathi (2002). In 2007, he auditioned successfully for a lead role in Venkat Prabhu’s sports film, Chennai 600028.
Born into a family of musicians, Jai said that music was important to him and had influenced him in his “years of growth”, especially with respect to his uncle, composer Deva. He graduated from Lamech School, Valasaravakkam, Chennai. He finished his fifth year of keyboard at Trinity College London and said he enjoyed participating in the musical composition of his films. He said he was a “big fan” of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s work, claiming that he “often dreamed of surpassing his work as a composer one day”.
Jai is also a car racer. “Crazy race” since his childhood, he said he was inspired by the Tamil actor Ajith Kumar to embark on the race. In June 2014, he competed in his first JK Tire National Racing Championship at the Irungattukottai track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
I was arrested for driving a car under the influence of alcohol and striking a separator in Adyar. Sources said the actor was booked in 2014 after his vehicle struck a median near the Kasi Theater. The police recommended the cancellation of his license.
