Raja Uppalapati Chinna Venkata Krishnam Raju (20 January 1940 – 11 September 2022) is known for his works in Telugu cinema. He is widely known as Rebel Star for his rebellious actor style. He is also the winner of the first Nandi Award for Best Actor. Krishnam Raju has played in more than 183 feature films during his career. He made his film debut with the 1966 film Chilaka Gorinka produced and directed by Kotayya Pratyagatma. Uppalapati has won five Filmfare Awards South and three Nandi State Awards. Uppalapati is also an active politician.

Krishnam Raju was born to Ugalapati Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Raju, Mogalthur, in the western part of Godavari district. He had a wife before his marriage to Shyamaladevi in ​​1996. He has four daughters, one of the first wife and the remaining three of his second wife. The film producer U. Suryanarayana Raju is his younger brother and the actor Prabhas is his nephew. Another nephew, Siddharth Rajkumar, made his film debut with Keratam (2011). Krishnam Raju worked as a journalist for Andhra Ratna. He received the second best photographer at the state level. He loves cameras and has a collection of cameras. He is the owner of Gopi Krishna Movies.

After the late 1990s, he became active in politics. He joined the Bharatiya Janata party and was elected to the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha constituencies of Kakinada and Narasapur. He served as Minister of State at the Ministry of External Affairs in the Third Vajpayee Ministry from 1999 to 2004. On March 24, 2009, he joined Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party. During the 2009 State Assembly elections, he ran for the position of MP. seat of Rajahmundry and lost because he was associated with PRP. He passed away on 11 September 2022 Sunday morning due to a cardiac arrest. He was under treatment in AIG Hopital, Hyderabad
