What is PCC? Procedure and Documents Required for PCC – styxor.com

PCC, which stands for Police Clearance Certificate, is sometimes required for individuals planning to study overseas. To obtain this certificate, an extensive list of documents is required, which you can find below. The PCC is especially necessary for students who plan to stay in a foreign country for an extended period of time and for those applying for long-term visas or permanent residency. Even minors may be asked to obtain a PCC by their destination nation.

To apply for a PCC, you can submit a form at a PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) under your Passport Office or PO jurisdiction.

The required documents for PCC issuance are as follows:

  • Passport
  • You will need to self-attest a photocopy of your passport, which should include the first and last two pages (including the observation page if applicable), as well as the ECR (Emigration Check Requirement)/Non-ECR page.
  • Application Receipt
  • You will need to provide the receipt of the application you received from the Passport office and keep the SMS received from them handy.
  • Proof of Current Address: For this requirement, you may submit your Aadhar Card or Voter ID Card, your bank account passbook, or even your rent agreement with the landlord (for current address proof), and your electricity, telephone, or water bill.

In order to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for overseas education, various documents are required, as detailed in a comprehensive list provided below. The PCC is typically required when students plan to stay in a foreign country for an extended period or when applying for long-term visas or permanent residence. To obtain the certificate, the applicant can submit a form at their local Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) under the jurisdiction of their Passport Office (PO).

To submit a rent agreement, it must be registered under the 1908 Registration Act, Section 17. Additionally, if providing a passport copy of the spouse, the present address must match the one provided in the application, and the first and last pages with family details should be furnished. An official letterhead employer or company certificate can also be provided, and a minor will require a copy of their parent’s passport.

To apply for a PCC, the applicant must first obtain the PCC form from the Passport Seva Kendra under their Passport Office’s jurisdiction and submit it with all the necessary documents. If the current address provided in the application differs from the one in the passport, police verification will be required.

If the passport was issued within the last ten years and the applicant is staying at the same address, the PCC will be issued directly during their passport office appointment. However, if the passport was issued more than ten years ago and has not been updated with the current address, or if the passport has expired, physical police verification will be required. The police verification will remain valid for 13 days, after which another verification will be necessary.
